Claim: During an animals lifetime its body may undergo adaptations. The adaptations help the animal but do not have any effect on the genetic coding of the animal.

The giraffes neck grew in order to be able to fight off other males so that they could attract mates and reproduce. The males would fight over females by banging necks. The ones with stronger necks would win, scoring the female and getting the chance to reproduce with her, causing the large neck to be passed down to the children.
